THE SUSTAIN SORONA SHORT-SLEEVED DOWN JACKET BY CUTTER&BUCK
The Cutter&Buck brand , distributed by New Wave, is developing textiles made from corn fibers for its new collections. The Sustain Sorona short-sleeved jacket (ref. 351468) is one of its flagship products.
The manufacturer aims to offer 90% eco-friendly products in its collections by 2025, and to do this, it is developing materials based on natural fibers. Such as Sorona, an innovative synthetic fiber designed to replace elastane.
Made from 37% corn, Sorona is a plant-based, renewable fiber. Its manufacturing process is unique: the corn is harvested, the sugar is extracted, and microorganisms are then added to initiate a natural fermentation process. This reaction results in Sorona, a high-performance, bio-based fiber.
Sorona is a fabric whose elasticity does not diminish over time, since it is said to be "mechanical" like curls in hair that always return to their original shape. Sorona also always returns to its original shape. This fiber successfully replaces the feathers used for their warmth. Using natural fibers like Sorona therefore allows not to use products of animal origin, while protecting against the cold. In addition, this fiber is soft, resistant, does not pill and allows the original shape of the garment to be retained for longer.
